How Add Retweet Button To Blogger Posts

How To Add Retweet Button To Blogger Posts,retweet button is for website and blog publishers that want to encourage their audience to retweet their content on twitter.And if your content is good and gets retweeted from some good members then traffic to your blog is really enormous.Its a great source of traffic.I love it.

Twitter is being used by many bloggers to promote their blogs. This donesn't takes much of your time in contrast reaches all the tweeters who are following you and countless twitter users. This, for sure brings in more traffic to your blog.

Eventhough retweeting the blog post means the credit as the original tweeter goes to tweetmeme, this sure gets more visitors to your blog.

Tweetmeme gives you two types of buttons,

* A button, which looks somewhat alike the Digg button

* A Compact version which fits in less space

Now how to add these buttons in blogger posts.

Goto Layout > Edit Html > Expand Widgets > Press Ctrl+F >Search For Below Codes

<p><data:post.body/></p>

And add the below code like as below:-

<p><data:post.body/>
<div style='float:right; margin-left:10px;'>
<script type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_url = '<data:post.url/>';
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"> </script>
</div>
</p>

This will add retweet button to your right of blogger post at beggining,if dont find the code enclosed in </p> Add above codes after it <data:post.body/> this will add this retweet button at end of the post.

Add below codes after this <data:post.body/> code to place button at end of post.

<script type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_url = '<data:post.url/>';
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"> </script>

If you wanna use compact button code use below one.

<script type="text/javascript">
tweetmeme_style = "compact";
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js"></script>

Save your template and done.

If you feel this post in usefull, please Tweet it.

Hi Anshul! After a lot of search I've found your blog and it seemed like a very useful one, very well written and easy to follow tutorials.

I tried to add the retweet button on my blog, following your instructions, but I don't have the line < p >< data:post.body / >< /p > on my template. I use one of those bloggers standard templates - Rounders 2 - with little customization. Do you have any ideia of what else I can do? Many thanks.

Anshul said...

just expand widget and then find leave that p tag and find code between p tag you will find for sure..

Vicky said...

It was on expand widget. I did find the p tag, and paste the link after it, but then nothing happened. The preview went ok, so I save it, and the button wasn't there. I waited for good half an hour, tried again, and nothing. So I went back to the code and deleted it. So frustrating. I've spent all my Sunday afternoon in this search.

Anshul said...

@vicky just download template and send me the codes i will add for you if you really want it.

I have a very odd problem.
This method works great for me, the button is on all of the posts on my homepage, and pressing the button redirects to a relevant tweet.
The problem is that - the button does not appear on the post individual-page. for some reason it disappear from there.

I'm after few hours of trying to solve that, without any result.

any idea to a solution ?

Thanks.
Ron

if you problems with the code above, you can directly go to the http://tweetmeme.com/about/plugins/blogger_template and submit your template to them, design the retweet button as per the need and generate the new template.

Hi! Thanks for this very useful post! I just want to know how I can position the retweet button just below the facebook button (like how they're shown in your post). I don't like to see them side by side. How do I do that? Also, how did you edit the font color of "Show older posts" link right after "Showing newest posts with label Social Bookmarking". I am seeing the link in red here in your blog. I want that link to match my blog's color, too. Please help! Thanks!

Anshul said...

@pinoy like you placed script codes for one button after it add <br/> tag and other button codes.

HI!
I ve tried your plugin but it appears right after the last word of every entry, so I removed it.
I want it bottom or top, but in the rightside.

In fact, when I changed my template, I lost all buttons ... I don't know if there's any problem with the template, since when I went to the retweet official page, it was impossible to create a code "due to errors"

If you can take a look or guess where is the problem, I'd appreciate it :)
thanks

Anshul said...

@the depest just use this line before the code where you placing
<div class='clear'/>
then it will not get stick to last word of entry.

Thank you so much for codes! Works great!

Maybe you can help me out. I want to add the retweet and the fb share button to my blog but I cannot get it to align like yours is their some advice or coding that you can provide that can make mine show up like yours. Right now I can only get the retweet to position where I want it.

Anshul said...

@damion ya sre just u added retweet button correctly i saw it.Retweet buttons codes are enlosed in div tag to foat it right.No in same div tag just where ur retweet button codes ends add break tag and then facebook button codes like below i have considered your codes only.

<div style='float:right;padding:4px;'>
<script type='text/javascript'>
tweetmeme_url = 'http://damionscsav.blogspot.com/2010/08/living-in-tiny-home.html';
tweetmeme_source = 'pdragon65';
</script>
<script src='http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js' type='text/javascript'></script>
<br/>
Facebook button codes
</div>
